Ya-Hui Cheng

Ya-Hui was originally an interior designer and has worked as a project lighting designer in Australia for The Flaming Beacon over 10 years. She holds an undergraduate degree in Interior Design from CYCU in Taiwan, a daylighting design postgraduate qualification from KTH in Sweden and Master Degree in Architectural Lighting Design from Hochschule Wismar in Germany in 2006.  
Ya-Hui is well-versed on the interaction between daylighting and artificial lighting design. She has run and designed projects of various scales from luxury resort hotel, high end residential and boutique shops in China, Indonesia, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Dubai and France.  
She is well-traveled internationally, with strong cultural sensitivity in design. Her works are inspired by the light in nature, the authenticity of culture and the spirit of the space. 
In 2015, she was invited to speech in PLDC Professional Lighting Design Conference in Rome, Italy. In 2016, she received the prestigious IALD international lighting design award. In 2017, she received both IES international illumination award of Merit and Excellence in USA. In 2018, her paper on hospitality lighting was presented at PLDC Professional Lighting Design Conference in Singapore.

She is a professional member of the IALD International Lighting Design Association, IES Illuminating Engineering Society and CLD international certified lighting designer.
